Oschmann Coaching - Life Coach - Leadership Coach - Transistion Coach - Meet Your Coach

I distinctly remember the day I woke up to my need for change. I was sitting at my desk at work when one of my coworkers asked me how many years I’d been there. When I told him, he casually remarked, “Well, in 17 more years, you can retire.” Hearing those words, I felt a knot in stomach. While I had a safe, secure office job, I never looked forward to going to work. At best, it felt like an obligation – I had to have a job - and, at worst, I struggled to get out of bed to go in.  While I could tolerate that job on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis, when it was put into the perspective of YEARS, it was unacceptable. The thought of feeling that way for 17 more years felt like a prison sentence.  “Who will I be in 17 years if I keep doing this job?”, I asked myself. The answer was simple – someone I didn’t want to be.

Though we compartmentalize our lives with labels like “work” and “home,” what happens in one area of our lives affects all the rest – we’re the same person experiencing them all.  Staying in a job I didn’t enjoy was robbing me of joy, fulfillment, and passion and it was bleeding over into every part of my life, clouding my outlook on everything.  I decided right then and there that I owed it to myself to find a new path, whatever it may be.  While striking off in a different, unknown direction was scary, it offered the opportunity for so much more.  Through my own support network and coaching, I found the courage to take a leap of faith and trust myself.  Today, I find joy in pursuing something I love, partnering with people like you who are searching for their own path, and that joy shines through in who I am in every aspect of my life.

In addition to my certified coach training, I also bring to our partnership a wealth of life experiences in transition and transformation in careers, relationships, and as a person.  I’ve been trained in logic and scientific process through the study and application of geology, math, oceanography, and computer science.  As a military officer, I’ve been a student and practitioner of leadership over my 26+ year career in the Navy and Navy Reserve, retiring as a Captain.  I’m fascinated by relationship dynamics, studying effective communication and relationship building and mediation. I’ve also been a long-time student of personal growth and connection through my studies of jujutsu and massage.
